Flood!!!!

Well folks, 8 plus inches of rain last Saturday did its toll on Aberdeen. We were VERY lucky, only some minor water in the unfinished portion of our basement. Others did not fare so well. Lots of flooded basements, and the area around the kids school was flooded for 4 days with over 5 feet of water. There will be some lost homes for a few people, and its very sad.

Jim has been working hard with the local emergency management at the Emergency Operations Center in Aberdeen. Flooding is still going on in some parts of the city, with rural flooding likely in some areas for a long while.

The water was actually much higher in our backyard (top photo) during the peak. It came up nearly half way to the house. Having a new home with a drain tile system and a sump pump really paid off for us. We dodged a bullet....
